Kisoko schools are located in Koi Zone on the hills of
Kisoko Parish, Kisoko Sub County, West Budama North Constituency in Tororo
District, the Eastern Region of Uganda. Formerly known as Bukedi, Tororo
District is one of the districts that already existed at Independence in 1962.
Bukedi District came into being in 1967 when the new Constitution was
formulated by the then regime. Its Headquarters was changed from Mbale to
Tororo and became operational in 1968. The district then comprised of six
Countries; namely, West Budama, Pallisa, Budaka-Bugwere, Bunyole, Tororo and
Samia Bugwe. During Amin`s time, its name was changed to Tororo District, still
with the same Counties. Following the Decentralization Policy that came into
effect in the 1990s, Pallisa County broke off to become Pallisa District, which
engulfed Budaka-Bugwere as one of its counties. In 1997, Samia Bugwe broke off
to become Busia District. In 2006, Bunyole County broke off to become Butaleja
District. Presently, Tororo District consists of West Budama and Tororo
Counties. Tororo borders the districts of Pallisa in the north, Mbale in the
north-east, Iganga in the west, Bugiri in the south and the republic of Kenya
in the East.
